Energy Space Events is hosting E-Oz Energy Skills Australia’s third annual Women in the Energy Industries Conference in Melbourne on the 23rd and 24th of April 2015. The conference will build on the success of previous years, drawing together industry stakeholders and equity experts to consider methods for increasing female participation in the energy sector trades and reigniting the conversation about promoting non-traditional roles to women. The particular focus of this year’s conference will be on:
- early intervention and building awareness of opportunities for female employment in the energy sector at school age, and
- the conversation of can be done – with presentations of various existing initiatives across the States and Territories, and the opportunity to workshop and brainstorm new ideas.
This year the conference is running for two days, with guest speakers and hot topic discussions on the first day, then a workshop session on the second day.
For the first time, Energy Skills Australia will also run a separate Career Information Session for female high school students and Career Advisers. This workshop aims to encourage young women to take up these trades and to equip Career Advisers with relevant information about Energy Sector trades specific to women.
